Kristen Fung Travels--New site, Sales, and what I would plan now

OUT OF OFFICE CURATED

Travel For The Intentionally Curious

Advanced Travel Advisor

I hope you've been keeping cool this summer Reader!

Updating my website took a lot longer than I expected. What I thought were simple changes turned into a Jenga tower of blocks I needed to rebuild completely from scratch. That one week turned into three weeks, but now I have something I am happier with and highlights what I do best. I hope you will check it out.

On my new website, you will see updated planning fees. I would love to extend a discount to all of you who have subscribed to this newsletter for so long.

If you book with me by October 15th, I am offering you 15% off all planning fees and itineraries.

Get on my schedule before my vacation days, August 11-14. Email me at Kristen.Fung@Fora.Travel or reply to this email.

I picked up a lot of travel information over the last few weeks, which has made me a more valuable travel advisor.

  • I know how to get someone from Inverness to the Isle of Skye without a car
  • Melbourne and Sydney are full of aparthotels, making it a great place to visit for families and groups–without the worry of Airbnb cancellations.
  • The InterContinental MSP is a surprisingly great place to stay when flights are delayed/canceled. For my existing client traveling with her 90-year-old mother, whose delayed flight caused her to miss a connection...
    • I booked the room while we were on the phone
    • I connected them with a hotel shuttle to grab the big bags and assist with mobility needs
    • Assisted with the refund process with the airline and got the refund in less than 48 hours for my client
    • Saved a lot of additional stress
  • My most recent booking was for a private photographer for a 13th birthday photoshoot in New York. They walked away with a portfolio of beautiful images for an aspiring ballerina in Manhattan. (I can book a lot of random things, just ask)

I’ve gotten some great reviews and social media shout-outs from clients. See the recent ones here:

Recently on Instagram

I switched to a visual representation of my travel planning over the last few weeks while working on the website. If you haven’t followed me on Instagram–this is your window into what I am good at, the many hotels and properties I’ve stayed at and toured, and places I recommend. I hope this gives you some travel inspiration.

What I've posted lately

Perfect for the traveler who wants to disconnect. Amtrak Trip from Los Angeles to Portland [See the journey 1, 2, 3]

For the couple who wants to connect with food and the land. Sonoma: Hotel E & Ridge Vineyards, Singlethread Farms Field Walk

What I would plan NOW

Remember that deals don't last forever.

A pre-post holiday escape

I was looking through my boutique hotel deals and spied this modern retreat in Joshua Tree for 20% off stays before the end of January. If you want to do some stargazing at a mid-century modern property, this would be it.

I'd love to book you here.

Wine Harvest Season

I have many great wine-tasting recommendations for the Sonoma area. I also have access to a stay two get a third night free at The Fairmont Sonoma–with some perks I can extend to you

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Daily breakfast credit of $45 per person, for up to two guests per bedroom, served in the restaurant and via in-room dining (credit is non-cumulative)
  • $100 USD equivalent Resort or Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
  • Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability

Spain!

My goal is to plan a trip to Spain this year! I love this country and would love to plan your trip.

In my inbox this morning is a sale on hotels in Spain for stays until the end of January.

A portion of my planning fees will go to World Central Kitchen from the Spain trip you booked with me.

WCK is currently on the ground in Spain and France during the wildfires.

For the plan ahead crowd

Spring Europe Travel

If you are planning a summer trip to Europe, I would advise you to plan something a little earlier. The past three summers have seen extreme temperatures in Paris, Rome, and even London. Let’s get you there in Spring instead. I, for one, loved my trips to Barcelona & Valencia in March and to Granada in May. Did you know you can stay inside the Alhambra?

Eclipse 2027

Already nicknamed the Eclipse of the Century, the eclipse on August 2, 2027, will follow the same path as the one happening a week from Tuesday. Think Southern Spain, Egypt, and Morocco. IF you have FOMO now, don't miss out.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to hearing from you.
