Out of Office Curated: Issue 10--London Guide & Hotel Deals

OUT OF OFFICE CURATED

Let's explore the world

one museum, and one plate at a time

Dearest Gentle Reader, (Also known as Reader)

I needed a Bridgerton reference for this next stop, London.

I am sneaking in an incomplete issue about London because there are so many sales and deals happening right now. May 13th would be too late for you to take advantage of them. (Summer travel, anyone?)

So, this issue will be a little London, a little myth busting, and travel deals.

In my last newsletter, I talked about an epic birthday tour that took us to seven different cities, with a first stop in Montreal. The second post in the series features London and a layover cut short.

Next stop London

I was so excited about my first trip outside of Heathrow. I had packed our London day full of plans, including a bucket list restaurant, a museum that has brought to life some of my favorite exhibits, and celebrating more birthdays. Things didn’t go as planned.

My London Long Layover is coming soon.

But, my London Guide is now live with tips for getting into London from Heathrow or Gatwick, a reminder that non-UK citizens MUST FILL OUT a UK ETA. I hope The London Guide helps take some of the guesswork out of the many airports, trains, and how you should budget.

Hey, new subscribers!

Thank you so much for supporting my small business. If you haven't received your free foodie road trip from San Diego to Los Angeles, reply to this message.

The Myths Of Working With A Travel Advisor

When talking with friends, I realized that people think that in order for them to work with me, I need to plan every portion of their trip. I would love to dispel that myth right now.

Lately, I have been booking & planning only parts of trips for friends, family, and clients.

  • I booked a hotel and an excursion for someone who booked their airfare and rental car with Delta Miles.
  • A friend reached out to me who was going on a group trip to Portugal, where one friend planned all the home rentals and transportation, and asked the other members to plan things to do. I found her a private Pasteis De Nata (Portuguese egg tart) group cooking class.
  • I also had someone contact me about designing a list of things to do in New Orleans. She was staying with a friend—the company paid for lodging—and she bought airfare. After chatting with her a bit, I curated a list of destinations, bookstores, and great coffee shops for her and her friends to visit as first-timers to New Orleans.

This is what she said:

"Kristen’s Curated New Orleans guide made my gal pals’ trip even more successful. We were able to balance our time with independent outings and group activities guided by Kristen’s personalized recommendations, which took into consideration my travel style and preferences. The format of the curated list was perfect for an extended weekend trip, and the digital map, which she had prepopulated with all the recommended spots together, was incredibly useful. It felt like Kristen understood the experience I was hoping to have and made it happen through her research. Now I want a curated list for all my future trips!"

If you only want part of your trip booked or want the information for that group cooking class, contact me using the form below or reply to this newsletter.
