Dear Reader,

As many of you may know, I am an Angeleno who loves Los Angeles. These last two weeks have been hard watching the city I love on fire and devastating entire communities. As someone who is usually so good with words, I find myself struggling right now.

On my nineteen-year LAAnniversary this past weekend, I put together a list of resources in my Los Angeles newsletter that I hope you will read. It offers local and international ways to help fire victims in Los Angeles.

What I didn’t add there was how amazing my network of fellow advisors was in helping people find lodging. Our WhatsApp was an almost 24/7 flurry of connection. Many of the resources I shared came directly from that group.

I want to thank our partners, including Proper Hotels, Palisociety, Hilton, and Line Hotels, who went above and beyond in offering discounts or free nights for the thousands of displaced people in Los Angeles. (+ Pets)

When we get some distance from this tragedy, please plan a trip to Los Angeles. We will need people to come back and bring the tourism dollars with them.

If you are in Los Angeles now, please buy something at your favorite business. They are struggling. (I have a long list in that issue if you need to find some new favorites.)

In the next issue, I will continue with my food tour from San Diego to Los Angeles. I did it again a couple of weekends ago. San Diego and Oceanside hosted a lot of fire refugees and held donation drives and benefits the whole weekend.

The California community is amazing.

Stay safe, everybody!

If you don't have time to read all of the resources in that list, consider a donation to World Central Kitchen. So far the WCK team and chefs in Los Angeles have served over 200,000 meals. They help people all over the world when they need it most.

Spend A Day in DTLA

This self-guided itinerary explores movie history, art, and architecture in the Downtown core.

If you are in L.A. do this itinerary soon, there are great small businesses to support.

If you have friends wondering what they can do to help Los Angeles, share this issue with them.
